Richard “TR” Thomas, 78, of Angleton, Texas was called home by the Lord on Tuesday, January 8, 2019. He was born of February 26, 1940, in Kalamazoo, Michigan, to Richard and Louise Thomas.
Richard was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who loved his family dearly. He served his Country in the US Airforce and later worked for Dow Chemical where he retired after 30 years. He loved to be around people, never met a stranger, and most everybody knew him as “TR.” He was avid athlete, playing softball, golf, tennis and bowling, and stayed active until the very end of his life.
He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Johnny.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Susan Thomas; daughter, Stacy, and husband Trip Lay; daughter Sammy, and husband Clint Jackson. His grandchildren are: Joshua Thomas; Jacob Thomas and wife Destini; Jordan Lay; Ross Lay; Hannah Lay; Julianna Lay; Jaxson Lay; Colten Jackson and wife Payton; Wesley Jackson and Sarah Jackson. TR also had two great-grandchildren, Slade and Acey Jackson.
The services are scheduled for Friday, January 11, 2019, with a visitation starting at 1:00 p.m. and memorial service lead by Pastor Ryan Olivier to follow at 2:00 p.m. at Palms Funeral Home in Angleton, Texas.
The family wishes to send a special thank you to the people who helped with the comfort of TR during his last days; Help, Inc; A-Med Home Health; and the Rehab wing at Country Village Care.
In lieu of flowers, please feel free to contribute to the Military Moms and Wives of Brazoria County.

Susan, Stacey and Sam: We are so sorry for your loss. TR and all of you were a part of our fun in the 80's and 90's-- TR like a second father to the kids. He was a living example of kindness and goodwill. What a role model he was. We cherish the times spent with your family. God bless you all.....

My condolences to the Thomas family during this difficult time. In the Bible, Jehovah God gives us hope. Acts 24:15 says, “there is going to be a resurrection of both the righteous and the unrighteous.” Revelation 21:4 says, “and he will wipe out every tear from their eyes and death will be no more.” Very soon we will see the fulfillment of these promises here on Earth.
