Bernard Aloysius Hollandsworth (Uncle Bernie) February 12, 1951 ~ June 5, 2016 Bernard Aloysius Hollandsworth (Uncle Bernie) was born on Feb.12, 1951 in Ulysses, Kansas, the youngest of four children. He grew up in northeastern Oklahoma, playing baseball, fishing, and working on his family's farm. After highschool he joined the United States Navy and served for four years. Bernie was stationed in Adak, Alaska, finished his last two years at Oaknoll Naval Hospital; he moved to Quincy, California to attend Feather River College where he worked for California Fish and Game on Lake Alamanor. After graduating, he worked with the Forest Service in Quincy, as well as Ketchikan, Alaska and West Plains, Missouri. Later on Bernie worked as Respiratory Therapist in Gravette, Arkansas. Bernie loved to spend time with family, caring greatly for his loved ones. He was very supportive and always quick with a joke to make them smile and laugh. Bernie loved to play golf! Being out on the golf course with friends or family was his idea of a perfect day. Bernie also loved the Chicago Cubbies! He also was very curious about his family history and became devoted to doing Genealogy. He spent many nights doing research on his family's ancestry. Bernie enjoyed traveling and was always up for a road trip. Bernie is preceded in death by his parents Edgar and Lela, his brother Edgar G."Doodle Bug", and his sister Alice. He is survived by: wife Christine Hollandsworth, daughter Stacy Sopora and her husband Bas Sopora, sister Regina Mancinas, nephew Rodney Bluejacket and wife Barbara and children; niece Sheila Patterson and children; nephew Jay Bluejacket and wife Robin and children; niece Glenda Baker and children; niece Mary Alice Bradshaw and children; niece Teresa DePrima and children; niece Jenora Schippert and husband Jim Schippert and children; nephews Eric Mancinas and Debby and children; nephew Roger Gilstrap and Becky; niece Tasha Mancinas and children; extended family Chenell Norman and husband Mike and children; and Lauren Edwards and children; and numerous great nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at Palms Funeral Home on Thursday, June 9, 2016, at 10 am, and following will be a graveside service at Angleton Cemetery.
