Billie Jo Redinger Billie Jo Redinger passed away on December 31, 2012 in Angleton, Texas after a 2 year battle with cancer. Billie was born on November 7, 1929 in Beeville, Texas to her father Frederick "Shorty" Redinger, and her mother Johnnie "Dixie" Hendrix. She grew up in Beeville, San Diego, CA and Houston, TX. Billie graduated from Milby High School in 1948. She studied Radiology from The Original Memorial Baptist Hospital, downtown. She earned her Radiologist Technologist Certificate in 1953, and worked for Memorial her entire career. During her career, Billie received many awards and accolades on all levels local, state and national, and was a member of the National American Society of Radiological Technologists. She also served as treasurer for the Memorial systems chapter. Billie also was an instructor of Radiology for Memorial Systems. She was also the assistant head of the Radiology Dept. While attending classes, she paid for her schooling by working as a milkman for Carnation Milk. She retried from Memorial Systems after 33 years. After retiring, Billie pursued two new careers, fishing and clowning. Billie attended Clown College and received her degree. She joined the Cheerful Clown Alley where she became "Dumplin the Clown". She truly loved being a clown and fishing at San Luis Pass. Billie was on the Civic Board of Treasure Island and worked for the MUD District for 12 years. Billie was preceded in death by her father and mother, her brother, Wendell Nix and wife Marian, her sister, Carmen Inge and husband Victor. She is survived by her lifelong best friend and companion, Frances Lawson of Angleton, TX, her brother Steve nix, Jr and wife Melinda of Rosharon, Tx, nephews Wendell Nix and wife, Lorinda, James A. Nix and James B. Nix and wife Christine, her nieces, Jo Donaldson, Bobbie Ryan and husband Bill, Terri Laine, Dixie Sutton, Edytha Karstrom & husband Kenny, Kimberly Garza & husband Julian and lifelong friend Lt. Commander Dee Lavergne Lawson, US Navy Nurse Retired. Numerous great- nieces and nephews. Her friends are too many to list. A Celebration of her life will be held at the Palms Funeral Home in Angleton, Texas at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 9, 2013, with Rodney Coates officiating. According to her wishes, her ashes will be spread on the incoming tide at San Luis Pass. A rod and a reel will go with her. This way she will fish for flounder coming in and going out. Frances and I would very much appreciate it, and Clowns do cry. The family would like to thank the staff at Helping Hands and Heart Hospice for their care, and the Hospice Aide, Bunny Willman.
