Clinton Virgel Wiseman

Mr. Clinton Virgil Wiseman, of West Columbia, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, April 24, 2019 at the age of 87. Clinton was born to parents Walter and Myrtle Wiseman on May 29, 1931 in Durant, OK. He grew up the eldest of five children. In 1952 Clinton joined the Army where he served for two years in the Korean War. He was honorably discharged and lived in the Houston area most of his life. He married Laura Mae Williams and fathered three children. He later married Della May Wiseman and fathered one child. Clinton married Mary Ellen Hall of Houston, TX in 1978, and the couple moved to West Columbia shortly after. Together they had a band called the Midnight Ramblers and played all over the Houston area for many years. Clinton owned and operated his own delivery business for 40+ years. Clinton is survived by his wife, Mary Ellen; his daughter, Peggy Goodman; his son, Kenneth Wiseman; his sister, Melinda Pearl Wiseman; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his brother, Johnny Wiseman; his sisters, Betty Jean Pope and Mary Lee McClellan; his children, Clinton Virgil Jr and Cindy Griffin; and his parents, Walter and Myrtle Wiseman. A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00AM on Tuesday, May 7th, 2019 at First Baptist Church of West Columbia. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Clint's life. The committal ceremony will take place at the National Cemetery in Houston at 2:30PM the same day. Flowers and donations may be sent to First Baptist Church of West Columbia Service Details.
