Eugene Bernard Harris Jr.

Eugene Bernard Harris, Jr. Gene Harris, 75, of Angleton, Texas, passed away peacefully on the morning of April 29, 2016 at his home. Gene was born April 3, 1941 in Birmingham, Alabama to Eugene B. Harris and Christine Harris. He graduated from Hewitt-Trussville High School and went on to study at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa. He graduated from the University of Alabama with a Master's Degree in Geology in 1965 and moved to Houston, TX in 1975 where he began a life working in the oil industry. Gene loved his family, the outdoors, running his home and ranch in Angleton, sailing, was an avid boater and was a member of Lakewood Yacht Club. While at Lakewood Yacht Club, he was a former Board member and former Chair of Captain's Round Table. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Levanche; two daughters, Kathleen Leigh and her husband Christopher Shields; and Lesley McLean and her husband Matthew McLean along with two loving grandchildren, Emma and Tate McLean. Gene was loved by many and will be remembered always. A celebration of life service will be held Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at Palms Funeral Home in Angleton, TX at 12:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Jefferson-Memorial Funeral Home and Gardens the following Saturday in Birmingham, Alabama.
