Helen Westerman Helen Jircik Westerman passed away from this life and received her heavenly wings on February 18, 2014. She was surrounded by her loving family and close friends and was most anxious to meet Jesus and rejoice with her deceased loved ones. Helen was 96 years old, still living alone in her home and was the most independent person you've ever met. With failing health and weakness, it was only recently she has to depend on family & close friends in the church and community to help out occasionally. She was born December 8, 1917 in Cleveland, Texas to Vlastimil and Frances Wiesnur Jircik and was the second of seven children. She graduated from Cleveland High School on May 1934, and after graduation she attended Sam Houston State College and John Sealy school of Nursing. Later Helen went to work for Peden Iron and Steel Company in Houston and it was there she met Herman Westerman. While they were engaged they both worked for a detective service at night while continuing their daytime jobs. They decided to get married and later their first precious baby daughter Barbara, was born. Herman was hired by Dow Chemical Company and they moved to Lake Jackson where their beloved son, Eric was born. Years later after they divorced, Helen followed her dream and opened the Oak House Antique Shop. She loved assisting the information desk at the Angleton-Danbury Medical Center. In her late fifties, she attended Brazosport College and was a charter member of the Phi Theta Kappa. Helen had a passion for gardening and yard work but later she resorted to reading and studying the stock market while constantly investing. Her greatest love was her family and church friends. "MeMa" as she was known to her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and their friends was so kind, loving and compassionate and we will always miss her love and sweet smiling face. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, her best friend and brother, Larry Jircik and wife, Vernadine; sister, LaNelle Jircik, and her beloved son, Dr. Eric Westerman. Helen is survived by her daughter, Barbara Richards, granddaughters, Kristen McDavis and husband, Steve, Kellie Richards, Kandace Porter and husband Jeff, Tracey Peterson, Meredith Ferguson and husband, Lachland.
