Juanita Gaona Palmarez, known as Janie Ynfante, was 80 years old when she gained her heavenly wings on July 14 at 11:25pm, after a long battle with cancer with her children by her side. She is preceded in death by her parents; Rosa and Juan Gaona, siblings; Louis, John (Mickey), Maria (Mary); former husbands; Jimmy Lopez Palmarez, Audon Ynfante.
Left to cherish her memory are her son Jimmy Palmarez; daughters, Sonia Palmarez Price, Angelica Ynfante; son-in-law Larry Adrian Price; granddaughters; Ashley, Elena, Ida; her sister Alicia Gaona Skeen; her half-brother Juan Gaona.
Janie was born on March 27, 1943, in Raymondville, Texas. The family moved to Angleton, Texas. Here is where Janie was passionate about life and how she saw it. She was a strong believer that women could do anything. There she went to school and worked. She later got married and started her restaurant in Houston (La Fiesta Caf and Bar) close to the grocery store where she worked. After her husband passed, she continued running her restaurant and remarried. The restaurant later became a bar with a stage which hosted many live bands. She later divorced and continued to run the bar, while educating herself to obtain her real estate license. She finally retired so she could spend time with her family, especially her son. Janie's motivation to overcome challenges and be strong inspired her daughters and granddaughters. She will forever be missed by her family, friends, and those she has touched in her life. Janie's life, inspiration, strength, and legacy will live on for years to come.
