"A wife of noble character, who can find? She is worth far more than rubies." Roberta "Perk" Brockman epitomized that wife. She rose up early and stayed up late to prepare a warm, loving and welcoming home for her family and all those who came. Born to Gus and Mary Niblack on June 20, 1928, she was the "bubbly" personality in her family, thus the lifelong nickname, "Perk." She was the All Westerner Girl at Lubbock High School, a member of Ko Jo Kai social club, and on the Prickly Pear staff at Abilene Christian College, She was introduced to Jay Brockman, the love of her life by her sister-in-law and the two married in March of 1949. Perk spent her life in service to others - caring for her husband and children, serving as a Bible school teacher, PTA, Study Club, Sea Shell searchers and so much more. She loved to sing and harmonize at church and with the family. She was an artist and fabulous cook. Perk was constantly entertaining, hosting a shower for a bride or mother to be. She regularly visited new church members with a freshly baked goodie and a word of encouragement. She was preceded in death by Jay, her husband of 65 years, her parents, her siblings, a great grandson and a lot of people she loved and claimed as family. Left to miss the twinkle in her eye are children- John and Janice Brockman of Destin, FL; Mollie LeMoine of Scottsdale, AZ; Mac and Beth Brockman of Montgomery, TX; Andy and Sara Bouse of Angleton, TX; Grandchildren - Jay and Christy Brockman, Jolie and John Kremser, Don and Brooke Brockman, Ben and Allison Brockman, Anne and Steve Adair, John and Hannah LeMoine, JC and Cheyenne Bouse, Sid and Brittany Bouse, Jennifer and Colby Brazil, 12 great grandchildren and one on the way! A Special Thank you Donna Romph, her faithful caregiver, Ann with Amed Hospice and the entire staff of Carriage Inn who cared for and provided a wonderful home for Perk for almost 14 years.
