Thomas Alvin Westbrook

December 3, 1926 — February 17, 2016

Tommy was born in Seminole, Oklahoma to John Walter and Nellie Denham Westbrook, the third child of seven. He is predeceased by his parents, wife, Bernice Wilson Westbrook, sister Ruth Westbrook Stansbury and brothers A.E. (Red) Westbrook and J. E. (Joe) Westbrook. He is survived by his brother G. W. Westbrook, sisters Joyce Witt and Syble Hewitt, sisters-in-law, Alene Westbrook-Guillot and Ethyl Blessing, his four children, Diana Sue Westbrook Hibbs (Doug) of Lake Jackson, Cynthia Lynn Westbrook Sims (Van) of Crockett, Terry Alan Westbrook (Melinda) of Brazoria and Gary Thomas Westbrook, 10 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren. Tommy worked for Dillard and Waltermire as a roughneck and driller. He met Bernice Wilson in Eagle Lake and they were married November 4, 1945. They followed the rigs all over Texas, New Mexico, and Louisiana. Tommy loved his job and the people he worked with. He never met a stranger and could talk about anything. He loved telling riddles and might get a little miffed if you knew the answer. Tommy quit following the rigs around 1963 and started pipefitting out of Local 211. After he retired from pipefitting, he and his youngest brother, Joe, started drilling water wells. More than anything, Tommy loved the Lord and his church, Second Baptist of Angleton. He loved reading and studying his Bible. The family would like to say a special thank you to the staff and caregivers at K's Place Personal Care Home and to A-Med Hospice. A memorial service for Tommy will be held Sunday, March 6, 2016 at 2 P.M. at Second Baptist Church of Angleton, Texas.
