William Wayne 'Bill' Swinney

William "Bill" Swinney, 71, was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Bill went to be with our Lord and Savior after a hard fought battle with cancer. Bill beat many health issues over the years and received a wonderful gift from his neighbor Brigid Breazeale when she donated one of her kidneys to him. The family is forever grateful to her for the extra 8 years her gift provided them. Bill was born in West Monroe, LA. He served in the Army from 1958 to 1964. Bill retired from Dow Chemical in 2001 after many years with the company. Bill was a lover of the outdoors, camping, playing guitar and making music with friends. Bill and his wife, Carol spent many years as foster parents, fostering 100 kids in their home. One of these foster babies became their own when they adopted her. He loved spending time with his family and had a soft spot for "his babies" (grandchildren and great-grandchildren). Bill is survived by his loving wife of 44 years Carol, Sons John (Tammie), James (Renee), daughters Sonya Peterson (Brantley), Rochelle Hopkins (Adam). Nine grandchildren Kayla (Seth), Tyler, Elizabeth, Abigail, Haleigh, Hayden, Riann, Beckett and Ander and two great grandsons Cuhlin and Creighton, Sister Gloria Glenn and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Bill is preceded in death by his parents Thelma and Warren, Brother Tommy, and Sister Carolyn Bennet.
