Alfred Lee Cook

Alfred Lee Cook, Sr., of Richwood went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, July 31, 2014. He was born on January 6, 1940 to Alfred and Katherine Cook in Bay City, Texas. He spent much of his life in Matagorda, Texas where his family were some of the first settlers on the island. He exhibited true "Matagorda grit" throughout his life. Funeral services are set for Thursday, August 7, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Brazosport Baptist Temple in Angleton, with burial to follow at Angleton Cemetery. A public visitation will be held from 6:00 - 8:00 pm on Wednesday, August 6, 2014 at Palms Funeral Home in Angleton. Alfred was preceded in death by his sister, Marion Jordan and his beloved granddaughter, Tiffany Dawn Laughlin. Alfred is survived by his wife--the love of his life of 53 years, Annette; Daughters, Dayna Cook Wroth of Friendswood, Doreen Cook of Spring and sons, Alfred Lee (Bubba) Cook, Jr., (Michelle) of The Fiji Islands and David Cook (Rachel) of Angleton. He is also survived by his granddaughter Taryn Laughlin of College Station, sisters, Margaret Massoletti of Lake Jackson and Merle Jones of Mississippi as well as numerous nieces and nephews, sisters and brothers-in-law and countless friends. Alfred "Al" loved his Lord and his precious church family. He was an active member of Brazosport Baptist Temple and served many years at Richwood First Baptist Church. Al was a second generation member of the Fraternal Order of Masons. Al was an avid fisherman and outdoorsman and helped instilled the love of the outdoors in his children, grandchildren, and many of his nephews and cousins. Al was also an accomplished carpenter. He was always Mr. Fix It--ready and able standing by the motto "have tools will travel." Serving as pallbearers are his nephews; Steve Massoletti, Leslie Massoletti, Lee Massoletti, Danny Croft, John Jay Grothe, and cousin Larry Anderson. Honorary pallbearers are: Rueben Grothe, Jr., Johnny Paul Polk, Martin Lindenblatt, Leslie Jensen, Lawrence Dellis, J.W. Kelley and John Anderson.
