Alicia Castaneda-Escalona

October 11, 1975 — August 20, 2024

It is with a blend of gratitude and sorrow that we share the news of the passing of Alicia Castañeda-Escalona, adored wife and the heart of Ernest Escalona Jr. She was born in Pasadena, TX, to Mr. Rafael Castañeda Cervantes and the late Mrs. Dora Alicia Castañeda on October 11, 1975. She entered eternal rest on August 20, 2024.

Alicia was a devoted and loving mother to her three children: Ernest III (Kathy), Raphael, and Angelita. She was the beloved sister to Adriana (Ceferino) Castañeda-Lopez, Amanda (Ronald) Flores, and Eustorgio Sr. (Liza) Moreno. Her nieces and nephews—Ariana (Victor), Devyn, Athena, Eustorgio Jr., Ronald Logan, and Alondra—held a special place in her heart. Alicia was the granddaughter of Francisco and Audelia Carrillo, and Rafael and Consuelo Cervantes, all of whom preceded her in death.

A devout Catholic, Alicia dedicated her life to serving God's children. In December 2022, Alicia and her family moved to Angleton, seeking the warmth and community of a small town with a big heart. After eight years of medical retirement, she rejoined the workforce in October 2023, taking on the role of Coordinator of Faith Formation at The Most Holy Trinity Parish. Despite her own health challenges, Alicia tirelessly worked to ensure that every child in the parish had the opportunity to know and love Jesus Christ through CCE and VBS programs. Her dedication and love for the children and the church community were evident in all she did.

Before moving to Angleton, Alicia devoted herself to raising her three young children, often single-handedly, as her husband worked in the oil industry around the world. In later years, she spent over a decade working with special needs students in Pasadena ISD, where she formed an unbreakable bond with her sister-at-heart, Gidget Gonzales.

Alicia, pray for us, as we keep you and all who rest in Christ in our prayers. Your spirit and devotion will forever inspire and guide those blessed to have known you.
