Allen Gorden Gillespie

Allen G. Gillespie Allen G. Gillespie, 77, of Angleton, Texas, passed away Nov. 17, 2012 in Houston, TX surrounded by the love of his family and friends. He was born on January 28, 1935, to David Blair Gillespie and Eula Howard Gillespie in Richlands, Virginia. Allen joined the U.S. Air Force in 1954. He then married his wife of 52 yrs., Goldie Marie Gillespie. After Allen served in Korea, he and his family were stationed in Turkey and several other Air Bases in the U.S. With 24 yrs and at the rank of Master Sargent he retired from the USAF. He started his second career in 1981 with The State of Texas TDCJ-ID. Being promoted to Captain, he and his family moved to the Angleton area. After 23 yrs of service with the State he retired for a second time to care for his ailing wife. Allen was a very loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was a hero to many and inspiration to those who needed it. He had a generous and giving heart, and he never turned away anyone in need. His playful and loving spirit always will be remembered. He was a Dad, Paw Paw and friend to all who met and loved him. He will be truly missed. He loved spending time with his family and friends and taking care of his animals. He is preceded in death by his parents David and Eula Gillespie; his wife Goldie M. Gillespie; Brothers Thurman "Frosty" Gillespie; Clyde Gillespie; Paul "Mickey" Gillespie; Sisters Mearl Stacy; Cara Cox; Half- Brother James Gillespie; Half- Sisters Lena Smith; Gillie Bailey. He is survived by his daughters Pamela Guajardo and husband Hisrael of Rosharon, TX; Kimberly Baldwin and husband James of Angleton, TX; Granddaughter Susan Matthews and husband Elwood of Houston, TX; Step-grandson LCpl Alexander Guajardo of USMC Cherry Point, NC; Step-granddaughter Jessica Reyna and husband Noel of Rosharon, TX; Sisters Louise Sublaskey of Staunton, VA; Thelma Varner and husband John of Staunton, VA; Shirley Dye and husband James of Doran, VA. Graveside services will be held November 23, 2012 at 2:00 PM at Angleton Cemetery in Angleton, TX.
