Alton Lloyd Wilcox, 85, of Angleton, departed this life for resurrection with his Lord Jesus Christ Saturday, January 14, 2012. Alton was born August 22, 1926 in Evans, Louisiana to Edmond Walton and Alva Elizabeth Wilcox. He served in the United States Army during World War II. Alton retired from Dow Chemical Company and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Angleton. He enjoyed bee keeping, fishing, bird hunting, gardening and woodworking. He was a loving Christian husband, dad, grandad, and great grandad. Alton was preceded in death by his first wife, Maxine Wilcox and sister, Pauline Firestone. Survivors include his wife, Darla Wilcox of Angleton, son, Russell Wilcox of Smithfield, NC; daughter, Ouita Smith and husband, Gerold of Angleton; step-daughter, Cindy Gautreaux and husband, David of Angleton; brothers, Herman Wilcox and wife, Bobbie of Jasper, TX, A.J. Wilcox and wife, Helen of Houston, TX and Charles Wilcox of Texas; grandchildren, Rian Smith and wife, Charmaine, Dustin Smith, Kristin Watts and Collin Watts, all of Angleton, TX; great grandchildren, Zen Smith, Juniper Smith and Kyra Chandler, all of Angleton. Visitation will be held Thursday, January 19, 2012 at Palms Funeral Home from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Graveside services will be on Friday, January 20, 2012 at 2:00 pm in Hinson Cemetery near Merryville, LA with Dr. Rodney Bowman officiating. A memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church in Angleton at a later date to be announced. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the Land Vision Fund of First Baptist Church, Angleton, in Alton's memory.
