July 7, 1946 — October 9, 2014

Angela Elaine "Penny" Carr Packard Angela Elaine "Penny" Carr Packard, 68, of Angleton passed away October 9, 2014. She was born July 7, 1946 to Lloyd & Bobbie Jean Carr of Angleton. Penny graduated from Angleton High School in 1964 and in 1968 received a Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education from Stephen F. Austin State College in Nacogdoches, Texas. Her first teaching job was at a Navajo Boarding School in Pueblo Pintado, New Mexico, followed by several years of teaching at Travis Elementary School in San Antonio, Texas. In 1970 Penny married Terry Packard and in 1973 their son Lee was born. She opened a day care at this time, so she could be home with her family. In 1991 she returned to work for the Angleton Independent School District until she retired in 2004. Penny's devotion to God and family was of utmost importance to her. She was fully committed in her roles as a wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, friend, teacher and caregiver. Loving and caring about others well-being gave her a great and rewarding sense of purpose for living. She felt that the most important thing she did in her free time was to prepare lessons for the pre-school children at Second Baptist Church of Angleton. She considered herself extremely blessed to teach these children for 35 years. She thoroughly enjoyed volunteering at Helping Hands and Heart Hospice thrift shop for 7 years. Penny was an avid reader with a passion for hiking on any trail she could discover. Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 12, 2014 from 5-7 p.m. at Palms Funeral Home. A funeral service will held 10:00 a.m. Monday, October 13, 2014 at Second Baptist Church in Angleton and be officiated by Pastor Chris Moore and Pastor Gerald Walker. She is preceded in death by her parents Lloyd and Bobbie Jean Carr. Penny is survived by her husband Terry and son Lee; brother Robby Carr and wife Billie; niece Laura Alexander and husband Bruce; nephew Ryan Carr and wife Christina; great nephews Ethan Blake, Logan Alexander, Carson Carr; great nieces Kylie Carr, Karys Carr and numerous relatives and friends. Penny was a loved wife and mother and will be missed dearly by all of us. We will take comfort in knowing that although she is absent from the body, she is present with the Lord. 2 Cor.5:8 It can be truly said of her that she fought the good fight, finished the race and kept the faith. The reward of an eternal home in Heaven is now hers.
