Antonio Gonzalez of Angleton, Texas passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving children on Tuesday, April 19, 2016. Antonio was born December 20, 1924 in Nuevo Leon, Mexico to Leobardo Gonzalez and Piedad Solis. He resided in Galveston and Santa Fe for many years before moving to Angleton where he proudly raised cattle. Antonio is preceded in death by his wife, Cira, of 66years. He was a loving and caring husband, father, doting , great grandfather and faithful friend to many. He was strong man of many talents and the foundation of a untied family. Antonio was a devoted Catholic together with his wife, Cira, he participated in the Family Christian Movement (Movimento Familiar Cristiano) as president for many years, counseling young couples before and after marriage. In 1951, he and his wife came to the United States raising their family in Galveston. They proudly became American Citizens encouraging their children to succeed in life. Antonio is survived by son Juan Antonio "Tony" Gonzalez (Angleton); daughters Rosa Elba"Rosie" MArtinez (Pearland), Sarah Leyva and husband Ernest (League City), Celia "Sally" Castillo (Houston), Pauline McNally and husband Terry (Houston); 12 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews residing throughout the United States and Mexico. A Celebration of his life will be held at Palms Funeral Home, 2300 E Mulberry Angleton Texas. Visitors will be received on Thursday, April 21st between 5pm and 7pm with Rosary to follow. Funeral Service will be held on Friday April 22nd at 12:30pm at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 1713 N. Tinsley St, Angleton Texas 77515 with burial to follow at Forest Park East, League City Texas. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Jose Louis "Joey" Rodriguez, Ernest "Ernie" Leyva, Christopher Michael "Chris" Mata, Joel Castillo, and Juan Antonio Gonzalez, III, and dear friend Elijah "Scooby" Barnes. Honorary pallbearer will be devoted friend Jose Inchauregui. Provide comfort for the family by planting a tree in memory of Antonio Gonzalez, please visit our Heartfelt Sympathies Store.
