Arnold Ray Langston

Arnold Ray Langston, 75, passed away on September 12, 2014 in Angleton, Texas. He was born on April 18, 1939 in Beaumont, Texas as the son of Quiller D. Langston and Geraldine Arrendell Langston. Arnold was a graduate of Stephen F. Austin High School in Houston, an Angleton resident for 52 years, and worked at Dow Chemical for 36 years. Arnold was a dedicated family man, who was passionately committed to community service. Arnold served as a member of the Texas National Guard, where he earned his paratrooper wings. Devoted to the safety of the surrounding community, he volunteered as a firefighter with the Angleton Volunteer Fire Department for over 30 years. During this time, Arnold took off many days from work to speak to thousands of elementary school students about fire safety, served as the Fire Chief, and served as President of the Brazoria County Firefighter Association. He ended his career by serving in his retirement as the Assistant Fire Marshall for both the Angleton and Lake Jackson fire departments. Giving more than his time, Arnold was always proud that he had donated more than 35 gallons of blood to benefit those in need. Arnold was a member of the Texas Masonic Lodge for nearly 50 years, belonging to and being active in a number of Masonic organizations and lodges. He served as the Chairman of Masonic Oak Pilgrimage and as Master at several lodges including Angleton, St. John's in West Columbia, Matagorda, Blessing, San Felipe, and Washington. Arnold is survived by his dedicated wife of 52 years, Enos Ann Davidson Langston, sister Nancy Langston Noh, his three daughters, Kimberly Ann Boone, Sarah Johnson, Malissa Martin, and his grandchildren, Jake Martindale, Luke Boone, Jonah and Clark Johnson, and niece Doran Langston. The family wishes to convey its heartfelt appreciation to the caregivers at Country Village, Altus Hospice, and the Med Surge nurses at Angleton-Danbury Medical Center. Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 18, 2014, at First Baptist Church of Angleton (237 E. Locust, Angleton, Texas, 77515) from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Friday, September 19, 2014, at First Baptist Church of Angleton at 2:00 p.m. with internment to follow at Angleton Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Angleton Volunteer Fire Department or Shriners Hospitals for Children.
