Arthur Dale Roberts passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, September 3, 2024, after a brief illness at the age of 79. Arthur Dale was born August 13, 1945 in Houston, TX to parents Melvin Dale and Geraldine (Willams) Kyle. His father, serving in the Marines during WWII, died in February of 1945 before Arthur Dale’s birth, fighting in Iwo Jima. His mother later moved the two of them to Angleton where she eventually met and married Chester Lee Roberts, who also had served in the Army during the war. Both of his Dads were awarded Purple Hearts. Chester adopted Arthur Dale at a young age, gave him a home, his name, and loving support throughout his life and he never missed a football game to see A.D. play.
Arthur Dale attended Angleton schools where he excelled in sports and throughly enjoyed his life in small town America! His classmates voted him Most Handsome his Sr. year in high school and he certainly got attention in his baby blue ‘64 Mustang!! After high school, he attended Blinn Jr. college upon being awarded a football scholarship. He joined the Texas National Guard, after school, where he served for several years in the mid-60’s. For many years, he worked alongside his Dad for Pipefitter’s Union 211 and also at nuclear power plants before retiring. Hunting was a favorite past time that he shared with his son, Brad.
Arthur Dale was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, numerous aunts, uncles and by infant grandson, Taylor.
He is survived by his aunt Betty, brother Donald Lee Roberts (Anita), son, Preston Bradley Roberts, daughter, Mandy Heinen (Kris), who lovingly cared for her Dad over the years.
He was blessed with Mandy’s girls, his granddaughters, Heaven, McKenzie (Mike) and Danyka, great grandchildren and Donald’s boys, nephews, Justin (Chase) and Brett (Charlotte) and many cousins.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, November 9th at 2:00 pm.
Donations in Arthur Dale’s name may be made to the charity of your choice.
