Aubrey M Gibson

March 21, 1945 — May 8, 2019

Aubrey M. Gibson, born March 21, 1945 to Benjamin & Rosa Gibson of Jacksonville, Florida, was called home to the lord on Wednesday, May 8, 2019 after fighting a long battle with cancer. 2 Timothy 4:7 "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith." Aubrey served in the U.S Air Force from 1962-1966 stationed at Bergstram Air Force Base in Austin, Texas. During this time, he met his forever soulmate, Darlene Faye Lorenz of Johnson City, Texas, and the two would wed in 1964. Aubrey was a skillful machinist and mentor in machinery for 50+ years, spending majority of his work in the Brazosport Area and working for McGill Maintenance where he would later retire. When he wasn't at work, you could find him "down at the shop" under the hood of a car or at the racetrack. He was the "Carburetor Man" because of his well-known knowledge in overhauling carburetors as well as building racing engines. If you had the opportunity to meet Aubrey, then you surely would never forget him. He was full of humor and was always quick to tell a joke to put a smile on your face. He was the life of the party and enjoyed making people laugh. He had a heart of gold and would always lend a helping hand to those in need. He is preceded in death by his parents Benjamin & Rosa Gibson; Brothers Ben, Charlie, George, J.W., Gene, James and sisters Ella, Dora, Charlotte, Mary & Roseann. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Darlene Gibson; Sisters Sally Boggs & Lucille "Lucy" Cochran; Children Dina Michie & husband Jim, Debbie Tomlinson & husband Van (Roho), and David Gibson & wife Sofia; Grandchildren Kaleigh Woodard, Chelsea Gibson, Allie Gibson, Clarissa Gibson and Kambrie Michie; And great-grandchildren Ayden Alvarez and Charleigh Strother; and we can't forget his 4-legged daughter, Lulu. Also, a host of nieces, nephews, additional family members and many, many friends.
