Barbara Joy Wood

Barbara Joy (Barkley) Wood passed away January 27, 2022 in Angleton, Texas. She was born June 15, 1928 in Belton, Texas to Fay and Dolores Barkley. She married James O. Wood in March 1949. They moved to Angleton in 1951. She was a member of the Angleton Church of Christ on Wilkins St., a member of a local garden club, & active in the PTA. She was a den mother in the Cub Scouts and took trips to Philmont scout ranch for scout training. She loved to travel, and they visited all fifty states in their travels, but going to the mountains was her favorite. She worked at Brockmans department store, a fabric shop, Joskeys, and Dillards stores where she sold cosmetics and where she loved her coworkers and customers. She leaves behind her sons, Ronald Wood, and James Wood; sisters, Alza Beierschmitt of Arizona, Frances Willes of Kingsland Texas; grandchildren, Barbara Macbrohn, David Wood, Natalie Evans and Ryan Wood; Great grandchildren, Tyler Barker, James Macbrohn, Blaine Evans, Jacob Macbrohn, Brooklyn Wood, Hailey Wood, Easton Evans and Ember Wood. She was preceded in death by her mother, father, husband and brother Fay Barkley Jr. Visitation will be on Monday, January 31, 2022 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Palms Funeral Home in Angleton. Services will be on Tuesday, February 1, 2022 at 1:00 pm at the Church of Christ in Angleton. Internment will follow at Angleton Cemetery. Service Details.
