Barry Edward Russell

Barry Edward Russell, age 59 of Danbury, TX entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, June 18, 2024, in Galveston, TX.


Born on November 7, 1964, in Dallas, TX to Ollie and Henrietta Russell. He was the youngest of five boys. Barry and his family lived in California when he was four years old and then moved to Ocean Springs, Mississippi around 1969. In 1971 his family moved to the Brazosport area where they lived in Clute and Lake Jackson, TX. Barry graduated from Brazoswood High School in 1982 and enjoyed playing baseball during that time.


In the fall of 1984 Barry moved to Danbury TX. where he met the love of his life Cyndi Tullos. The two were married on August 29, 1985, at the First Baptist Church in Danbury after dating for only nine months. He passed away just a few months shy of their 39th wedding anniversary. Barry was dedicated to his family and the youth of the town. He coached little league baseball, served on the little league board, umpired numerous ball games. He also coached little dribblers basketball and helped start the Optimus Club at the school. Barry was also a member of the Danbury Masonic Lodge #1462.


Dedicated to his profession, Barry began working for BASF Corporation on September 16, 1985. He worked there for 39 years where his work ethic and camaraderie were an inspiration to his colleagues. Beyond his professional endeavors, Barry found solace and pleasure on the golf course. His love for the game was evident to all who joined him on the greens. Barry shot his last hole in one on February 10, 2024, witnessed by his wife Cyndi.


Left to honor Barry and remember his love are his beloved wife Cyndi Tullos Russell of Danbury, TX; his son Chris Russell and wife Sarah of Lake Jackson, TX. His daughter Kayci Arcudi, and her husband, Jason of Lake Jackson, TX. He has five amazing grandkids – Jacob, Hunter, Johnathan, Payton and Avery Grace. He is also survived by his brothers, Michael Russell and Karen Downey of Freeport, TX; William Scot Russell and wife Carol of Lake Jackson, TX; Paul Russell and Terri Denton of Freeport, TX. Andrew Russell and wife Aiden of Clute TX. Father and Mother in law Richard and Joyce Tullos of Ace, TX. Also many nieces and nephews that he dearly loved. Barry had a few special friends that he truly cherished, Jody Weekes, Benita Anderson, Danny Turner, Jay Mobley, Robin Stanley, Belinda Risinger, his Austin Bayou Golf family and his coworkers at BASF. Barry now reunites with his late mother, Nicki Russell; his father Ollie Lee Russell; and his brother Stephen Lee Russell who all preceded him in passing.


The Russell family invites friends and loved ones to gather in celebrating Barry’s life on Sunday, June 23, at 2:00 p.m. at the Community Baptist Church, located at 6114 5th Street, Danbury, TX. Following the service, attendees are welcomed to join the family for a meal and a time of fellowship in his honor at the adjacent community center.

In remembrance of Barry’s love for golf and his charitable spirit, the family is establishing a golf scholarship fund to benefit local students each year. In lieu of customary remembrances, contributions to the funds are greatly appreciated and may be made through Venmo at https://venmo.com/u/Cyndi-Russell-8 or by cash and check at the service.


Barry’s Legacy of love, perseverance, and generosity will forever be cherished and kept alive in the memories of those he touched. He will be profoundly missed. May his soul find peace and fairways in Heaven.
