Basil Leon Smith Basil Leon Smith was born on September 13, 1933 and went to his heavenly home on March 12, 2017. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Louise Jo Schooley Smith and children, Michael Smith and wife, Lisha, Sheri McCoy and husband, Mel, Vicki Strouz and husband, Gary. Grandchildren are Jason Smith, Justin McCoy, Shannon Robbins, Ryan McCoy, Jamie Majewski and Krista Strouz. He was also blessed with 11 great-grandchildren. Basil served as a Sergeant in the Marine Corp stationed in both Japan/ 3rd Marine Division and Korea/ 1st Marine Division. He was member of IBEW Local Union 716 for 59 years. Memorial services will be held Wednesday, March 15, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Palms Funeral Home with Jamie Hill officiating. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to Marine Corp League of Brazoria County, Detachment #982, P.O. Box 2401, Angleton, TX 77516 or the Parkinson's Foundation.
