Ben Browning Hargis III died peacefully in his home in Angleton on July 30 at age 68 after a brief illness. Ben, who was born in Biloxi, Miss., had served his country in the Air Force for more than 20 years, achieving the rank of senior master sergeant. His service included tours of duty in Germany, Turkey and Honduras. After his military retirement, he taught math for many years at public schools in Brazosport and Angleton as well as at Brazosport College before retiring. He is survived by his mother, Mary Hargis; his son, Ben B. Hargis IV; brother Kevin and wife Stacey McLarty; sister Liz Blake and husband Cory; niece Ceci and nephew Griffin. The family requests donations in Ben's honor be made to the Angleton Alumni Association, P.O. Box 122, Angleton, TX 77516. A celebration of Ben's life is planned for a later date. Service Details.
