Betty Jean Hardesty

Betty Jean Lackey Hardesty, 88, of Angleton, Tx, went to be with her Lord and Savior on May 18, 2017. She was born on February 24, 1929 to her parents Jewell and Edna Lewis in Russellville, Arkansas. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband W.M. "Bill" Lackey after 38 years of marriage, husband Paul S. Hardesty after 22 years of marriage, her brother Joe B Lewis and his wife Claudia, and her son-in-law Tony Joyce. Betty is survived by her sister Gertrude Dillon of Lufkin, her son Danny Lackey and wife Donna of Bryan, Tx, her daughter Sandy Lackey Joyce of Angleton, her grandchildren: Karen and husband Allen Shaw of Greenville, South Carolina, Pam Causey of Greenville, South Carolina, Travis Joyce and wife Jamie of Fulshear, Tx, Ryan Joyce and wife Melissa of Richmond, Tx, Cody Joyce of Houston, Tx, Stacey and husband Michael Harrell of Liverpool, Tx, Gary Lackey and wife Becky of Liverpool, Tx, Amy and husband Ryan Shipley of Lake Jackson, Tx, Wesley Lackey and wife Jennifer of Sachse, Tx, and eighteen great grandchildren. She is also survived by Paul Hardesty's children Pat and Don Lamont of Freeport, Mollie Hardesty of Houston, Logan and Leah Hardesty of Freeport, Paulette and Melvin Brown of Angleton, Joy Cook of Angleton, Cece and George Walder of Angleton, Claude Hardesty and Karen of Angleton, Carolyn Jean Ebey of Lake Jackson, and Lula Mae Rich of Clute, and their children and grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends. Betty has been a member of Angleton First Assembly of God Church for 34 years and served as a trustee for 13 years. She also served as a member of the Angleton-Danbury Ladies Auxiliary at the hospital for 38 years and has held many officers' titles during that time. Betty loved to share her talent of crocheting and she crocheted hundreds of newborn baby caps and baby blankets for the hospital. Betty was thankful for her dear friend Rachael Cruz for serving as her feet and hands for 3 years, and was also thankful for her IPH Hospice Nurse Lori Delgado for her loving tender care. In Lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Big Love Cancer Care at (www.biglovecancercare.org) or a charity of your choice. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Monday, May 22, 2017 at the First Assembly of God Church in Angleton. Visitation will be held from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm Sunday, May 21, 2017 At Palms Funeral Home.
