Billy Fred Shanks

Billy Fred Shanks, of Montgomery, Texas, passed away early Friday morning, September 12. He was born June 19, 1961 to Freddie and Betty Sue Shanks. Born and raised in Angleton, his idyllic childhood was made all the better surrounded by wonderful families like the Coales, Baileys, Crouchs, Atkins, Hansons and Blahas. Their experiences and exploits of that era are the stuff legends are made of. Billy Fred graduated from Angleton High School in 1979, and received his A & P License at Rice Institute in San Antonio, Texas. He was employed by American Airlines prior to retiring. Billy Fred's love for others was made evident in his desire and effort to see his friends and family enjoying life. He lived for the carefree days on the lake, tinkering on his cars or reminiscing with family. He was a natural when it came to engaging socially and he went the extra mile to share his fun-loving personality. Billy Fred was a generous man with a giving heart. Sensitive, sentimental and loving. He was preceded in death by his parents, Freddie Shanks and Betty Sue Gullberg, and beloved uncle Michael Thomas. He is survived by his sisters, Alena Phillips and husband Chad, and Sherilyn Steele. Aunt Bonnye Owers, Step-mother Carolyn Shanks and her children; Brian Woodward and Heidi Klecka. Nephews; Kent & Roberta Phillips, Keith & Flor Phillips, Kyle & Courtney Phillips. Nieces; Rachel & Cole Janini and Sheridan Steele. Services are scheduled for Saturday, September 20, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. Visitation and Memorial Service at 11:00 at First Baptist Church, 237 E Locust St, Angleton.
