Brenda Elizabeth Paul, 68, of Ingleside, TX, passed away on February 17, 2022. She was born on August 5, 1953, in Brownsville, TX, to Elvira and Ernest Ivey. The Ivey's were a blended family with a total of 18 children. Ernest brought 8 children to the marriage, Elvira had 3, and together they had 7 more children. Brenda spent much of her early childhood traveling between Houston and Brownsville due to her father's job requirements. She received her GED in Houston and began a career with Southwestern Bell Telephone. It was here that Brenda and Raymond met. They married on October 13, 1979. They worked and lived in Olympian Village, Missouri, and Ray was also the mayor. Brenda and Ray have three children: Ernest Earl, James Albert, and Robert Lee. Upon retirement, Brenda and Ray moved to Corpus Christi in 2002. Brenda was a dedicated mother and grandmother who loved organizing and hosting large family reunions, fishing, and cooking. She loved helping and feeding people, and she loved her dogs. Brenda loved camping so much. She would even go camping by herself if no one else could go. She was always a leader and great at coordinating events. She loved the water and having her grandchildren over in the summertime for swimming and anything that had to do with the water. Additionally, she was intensely civic minded. Brenda and Ray joined the U. S. Coast Guard Auxiliary in May 2003. Brenda was very proud of her 15 years of service in the Auxiliary. She began her career of service by becoming boat crew qualified. This led to her expanding her qualifications in area of Marine Safety and participating in on-water marine safety patrols. She served at the Flotilla, Division and District levels. Brenda served both the Rockport (Flotilla 79) and Victoria (Flotilla 7-10), and Corpus Christi (Flotilla 7-11). Her service included being Flotilla Commander, Vice Flotilla Commander, Vice Division Commander, and Materials Officer for District 8CR (DSO-MA). Her love of cooking led her to become one of the first Auxiliary Food Services qualified in this area as AUX Chef. She spent many days and hours preparing meals for the Coasties of Station Port Aransas. Brenda and Ray retired from the Auxiliary in December 2018. Brenda is preceded in death by her parents, Elvira and Ernest Ivey; sisters - Margarita Espinosa and Lilia Leal; and brothers - Freddie R. Ivey and David R. Ivey. Left to cherish memories of her are her beloved husband and soulmate Raymond; sons Ernest Earl (Tanya), Rosenburg, TX; James Albert (April), Houston, TX; and Robert Lee, Warrensburg, MO; brothers Raymond Rivera, Aurora, CO; Ernest Ivey, Oyster Creek, TX; LeeRoy Ivey (Becky), Houston, TX; Freddie Ivey, Santa Fe, TX; and sister Jennie Alanis (Manuel), Katy, TX. She is also survived by her 11 grandchildren: Rebecca Renee and Andrew Earl (Tanya and Ernest); Kaitlynn Elaine, James Earl, Jessica Rae, MacKenzie, Emma Lee, Hope Elizabeth, David Lee, Kiel Louis, Jay Aaron (April and James). She is also survived by three great grandchildren: Aliana, Amelia, and Milo. A Memorial Service will be on Saturday, March 12th at 10 a.m. at Palms Funeral Home, 2300 Mulberry St, Angleton, TX.
