Brian Lee Nolen, 72, from Spring Branch, TX (formerly of Danbury, TX) passed away in San Antonio, TX on May 6, 2023. He was born in Alvin, TX to his parents: Harry and Helen (Wallis) Nolen on July 26, 1950. Brian attended Danbury High School where he played football as quarterback and basketball. He graduated in 1968 and went on to attend Texas A&I on a basketball scholarship. While attending Texas A&I, Brian was a member of the sorority Delta Tau Delta, also known as "The Delts". Brian graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Educational Mathematics with a minor in Health and Physical Education. He received a teaching certificate for Math and Health/Physical Education in 1974. Brian began working for Monsanto-Chocolate Bayou as an Instrumentation Electrical Technician for the I&E department. Shortly after graduating Brian met the love of his life, Cheryl Sonnier, and they were married in Angleton, TX on June 7, 1975. Brian was a loving father to Keith and Drew. He enjoyed coaching baseball as they grew up. In 1985, he went back to school and received an Associate of Applied Science in Electronics from Brazosport College. In 1987, Brian gathered up his family and moved to Saudi Arabia to work for Saudi Aramco as a Senior Instrumentation Electrical Technician. He continued his love of coaching baseball throughout his tenure in Saudi. He enjoyed bringing out the best in everybody, he had a knack for finding the most unique and amazing ways to motivate his baseball teams that he coached. He lived and worked in Saudi Arabia for almost 30 years. The last five years he worked as a contractor as a Senior Specialist Evaluator and Instructor. When he returned to the United States, Brian and Cheryl moved to Canyon Lake in 2014 in the home he had designed and planned. He continued his love of education and historical research. He was an avid historian who attended Liberty University receiving a Masters of Education in 2021. He also dedicated his time to write short stories and published a book of his own. Brian spent the last few years loving being a PaPaw to Leeanne watching her excel in soccer and spending his free time with her. In 2022, they built another home in Spring Branch, TX. Brian was currently working on restoring his 1995 Chevy Corvette. He was dedicated to his family and friends as well as helping anyone in need. Brian never treated anyone like they were a stranger, and valued friendships he made. Left to cherish Brian's memory is his wife, Cheryl (Sonnier) Nolen, his son Drew Nolen (wife, Athena), his granddaughter Leeanne Nolen, his precious dog Paris, his brother Dennis (wife, Janet), his brother Tim (girlfriend, Wanda), his brother Terry (wife, Tina), his father-in-law, Ruston Sonnier, his sister-in-law Colleen Seat (husband, David), his brother-in-law Brian Sonnier (wife, Jane), his sister-in-law Susan Perry (husband, Mike), his sister-in-law Faith Wallace, his brother-in-law Christopher Cruce (wife, Wendy) and many nieces and nephews. Awaiting his arrival in heaven are his parents, Harry and Helen Nolen, his beloved son, Brian "Keith" Nolen, his mother-in-laws, Shirley Sonnier and Helen Sonnier, and nephews, Matthew Nolen and Joseph Seat. Services will be held on Monday, May 15, 2023 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Danbury, TX at 2:00pm. The family welcomes all friends for a time of visitation on Sunday, May 14, 2023 at Palms Funeral Home from 5:00-8:00pm with a rosary being recited at 7:00pm.
