Candice Lea York

Candice Lea York, died unexpectedly on March 2nd, 2023 at her home. She was only 38 years old. The family is deeply saddened by her sudden passing. She was born on June 19th, 1984. During her school years Candice enjoyed singing, poetry, theater, cheerleading, and various sports. She graduated from Sweeny High School in 2002, and then earned her Esthetician Degree. Candice later attained her real estate license which began her career as a realtor. Candice loved spending her time in nature, be it hunting, fishing, boating, swimming, or raising goats and her friend Juicy the pig, or cultivating fruit trees, and she was talented at crafts, painting, and a handy contractor. She was a superb chef and the most wonderful host in Brazoria county. Her take on her father's gumbo was legendary, and she threw the best gatherings, insisting everyone enjoy themselves. Most of all she had a huge heart. On July 24th, 2016 she gave birth to her only child, and love of her life, Kayson Maness York-Griffin, in whom her memory lives on. Candice is survived by her mother Sirina York, brother Tony York and wife Nicole, sister Tina York Schobel and husband Sean, sister Stephanie York Grisham and husband Andrew, cousin Autumn Downing and wife Brooke, cousin Amber Machacek and husband Joe, cousin Krissi Reeves, cousin Keri Reeves-Johnson and husband Hunter, cousin Athena Cahill and husband John, Aunt Deborah Downing and husband Donald, Uncle John Carnegis, Aunt Connie Reeves and husband Mark, godfather Uncle Nicholas Carnegis, godmother Darlene Stevens, and many more. Her nieces and nephews; Raylee, Cambree, Andrew, James, and Rebecca. Her second cousins; Tanner, Ashtin, Avery, Ande, Bryliegh, Niko, Knox, Rosie, and Cali. Her close friends; Alicia, Holly, and Candis. Candice was preceded in death by her grandfather Nicholas Carnegis, father James York, grandmother Janet Carnegis, grandfather James Willard York, and grandmother Gertrude York, and Lexi and Luke York, her loyal canines. Family and friends are welcome to attend a celebration of Candice, which will be held at Palms Funeral Home in Angleton on March 11th, 2023 at 3 pm.
