Carole Elaine Matulik La Quay, age 69, of Rosharon, TX went to be with the Lord at 8:20 AM on May 11, 2017, in Angleton, TX, after a long struggle with Addison's Disease and Parkinson's Disease. Carole was born on June 6, 1947 in Port Lavaca, TX, to Tommy and Ethel (Key) Matulik. She graduated from Calhoun High School in 1965. Carole was married to Johnnie C. La Quay II for 14 years and together they had two children. In 1989, she met Ann McDaniel and they have been together for 29 years. Carole served as the bookkeeper for Evelyn's Fish Market and Seafood Packing Company, her family's business for several years and worked as a realtor prior to retirement. Carole loved spending time with her family, going fishing, doing puzzles, and singing. She had a good heart and was very loving and generous with her friends and family. Carole had a smile that was contagious; if she was laughing and smiling you couldn't help but laugh and smile with her. Carole is survived by her mother, Ethel Key Matulik; her partner, Ann McDaniel; her children: Michelle La Quay and her husband Trey Teeling, Brent La Quay and his wife Melissa Rieschick, Candy McDaniel Harrell and her husband Scott, and Tammy McDaniel Leitner; her grandchildren: J.J. Avila, Journey Murray, Jacob Murray, Jessica Ford Evans and her husband Andy, Justen Ford and his wife Brittany, Tina Harrell, Billy Harrell, and Brody Leitner; and her great-grandchildren: Mackenzie, Gavin, Olivia, Skyler and Jaclynn. Carole is also survived by many loving cousins, her aunt, Esther Boyd, and members of the La Quay family. Carole was preceded in death by her father, Tommy Matulik, her ex-husband Johnnie C. La Quay, II, and her nephew Jason La Quay; as well as many aunts and uncles. A memorial service will be held at Richardson-Colonial Funeral Home in Port Lavaca, Texas on June 6, 2017 at 11 AM. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made in memory of Carole to either one of the three charities she supported, which included St. Jude's Children's Hospital, American Cancer Society, and Alzheimer's Association (alz.org); or Parkinson's Disease Foundation (pdf.org) or The National Adrenal Diseases Foundation (nadf.us).
