June 9, 1945 — March 25, 2025

Carroll Gene Grigsby

Today, March 25, 2025, the better part of me left this world to go be in the welcoming arms of his Saviour, Jesus Christ. He was the best husband ever that laughed, cried, defended, and supported me. Above all else, he loved God and his Saviour, Jesus Christ.

He served several churches in the American Baptist Association as their Pastor for over fifty-two years, leading many souls to the Lord. His last pastoral position was at Rocky Springs Missionary Baptist Church, Diaville, Texas. He so loved this church and its members. While there, he received his Honorary Doctorate Degree from Texas Baptist Institute, Henderson, Texas. He had previously taught at the Institute. At the time of his death, he was a member of Highway Missionary Baptist Church in Huntington, Texas.

No matter what was going on in his world, he always had a whistle and a smile, even to the end. He could still sing the old gospel songs though his memory was diminished.

He was born in Leachville, Arkansas, on June 9, 1945, to his parents, Thedell and Selma Grigsby. A better son could not have been found. In their last days on earth, and living ten hours from them, he still took care of their every need.

He was Salutatorian of his 1963 graduating class in Aubrey, Arkansas and an outstanding athlete. He loved coaching and umpiring girl’s softball in Angleton.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Thedell and Selma Grigsby and younger brother, Harold.

He is survived by Dee, his wife of thirty years, who loved him beyond words. The one whose hand he always held, even until his last breath. We enjoyed many fun and exciting times together as we traveled to our favorite places; Nashville Tennessee - Smokey Mountains, and Branson, Missouri.

We truly enjoyed serving the Lord together. God called him to preach the gospel and he always gave his all whether preaching a sermon or just being there for anyone that needed him. His compassion for people was immeasurable.

He is also survived by his children, David, Tim, Amanda and Karla. grandchildren, great-grandchildren and extended family, Karmen, Brenda, Julie, Louis, Beth, Lori, Monica, and Angie.

Services will be held March 29, 2025 at Palms Funeral Home, Angleton, Texas.

Visitation will be at 12:00 noon with services beginning at 1:00 p.m. The Rev. Weeks DuBose, long time friend, will be officiating.

A private burial will be held at a later date.

His Angleton School Bus riders will remember him for singing with them and his favorite saying, “Goodie, Goodie, Gum Drops!”
