Carylon Lavetta Jones

On August 13, 2018, Carylon Lavetta Gilchrest Jones left this earth and spread her wings, daughter of Roy and Pearl Gilchrest was born January 24, 1934 in Moody, Texas. They moved to Gatesville, Texas when she was young. She was a Methodist at the age of 12 when Brother Goerge baptized her in the Leon River in April of 1946. She became a Baptist at the age of 21 at the First Baptist Chapel. She gave her life and heart back to her Lord and that was the most wonderful thing she ever did. She married the love of her life, John W. Jones in April of 1950 in Mound, Texas by Rev. George. They were married for 48 years before he passed. God gave them four children. They moved to Angleton, TX in September of 1977. She was a cashier and manager of a convenience store for several years. Her family was the center of her life and she was very blessed. Her home was always open to anyone that needed a place to stay and food to eat. She was preceded in death by her parents Roy and Pearl Gilchrest, two brothers Darrell and Garnett Gilchrest, two sisters Velmarie Dyson and Dorthy Isbell, her son Royce (Bud) Jones, husband Johnny Jones, and daughter Katherine (Kathy) Melton. She is survived by her daughter Peggy Reid (Paul Goodman), her son Tony Jones (Recie Jones), numerous nieces and nephews, grandchildren Karla White, Royce Isbell, Shawn Jones, Josh Jones, Michial Melton, Karlene Buster, Tina Rocha, Charles Jones, Carrie Shaw, and Justin Reid. As well as numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She said you can never have enough grandchildren. Services will be held at Palms Funeral Home in Angleton, Texas. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 15, 2018. Funeral Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, August 16, 2018 with Paul Goodman.
