Charlene Alice Cheatham

Charlene Alice Cheatham (Mullins), 93, of Angleton, TX went to be with the Lord and Savior on January 3, 2022. She was born May 16, 1928 to Charles Floyd Mullins and Pearl Pettit of Duncan, Ok. Anyone who knew or met Charlene knows that her greatest accomplishment in life was her real life love story to her husband of 68 years, Claude Ray Cheatham. The two met on her birthday in Magnolia Gardens in Houston, TX and went on their first official date the next day. Within 7 days of meeting, the two were engaged and married. Charlene told this story to everyone, and it is one that will be told for generations to come. She is preceded in death by her devoted husband, Claude Ray Cheatham; her daughter, Barbara Elaine Crone; and her son-in-law, Danny Richard Burwell. Survived by her passing are: daughter, Avis Cheatham Burwell of Angleton, TX; son, Leslie Cheatham of Angleton, TX; and son Lloyd Cheatham of Lake Jackson, TX. Charlene also leaves behind her grandchildren: Bryan (Melissa) Burwell of Sweeny, TX; Ashley (Josh) Harrell of Sweeny, TX; and Kari McSweeney of Beaverton, OR. Better known as "Gigi" to her great grandchildren, she leaves behind: Briley and Madison Burwell of Sweeny, TX; Brantley Ray Harrell of Sweeny, TX; and Kadence, Kamryn, Kalynne McSweeney of Beaverton, OR. To honor her, services will be held Friday, January 14, 2022, at 10am at Palms Funeral Home for family and close friends, followed by a graveside at Houston National Cemetery at 1pm where she will be laid to eternal rest next to the love of her life.
