Claude R. Cheatham Claude Ray Cheatham, 95, of Angleton, TX went to be with the Lord and Savior on August 2, 2018 while surrounded by his family. He was born on June 30, 1923 to J.W. and Avis Cheatham in Dallas, TX. Claude joined the U.S. Navy at a young age and is a survivor of Pearl Harbor as well as 16 other battles. He received multiple medals for his service. After retiring from Dow Chemical in 1980, him and his wife spent retirement on the water catching shrimp, fishing and cruising between Florida and the Bahamas aboard their boat the "Compadre." He was a beacon of wisdom should we choose to heed, a man of unconditional love, consideration, admiration as well as having the patience of a Saint. Survived by his death are his devoted wife of 68 years, Charlene Cheatham (Mullins) of Angleton, son Lloyd Cheatham (Connie) of Lake Jackson, son Leslie Cheatham of Angleton and daughter Avis Cheatham Burwell of Angleton as well as his Grandchildren, Bryan Burwell (Melissa) of Angleton, Ashley Harrell (Josh) of Brazoria and his Great Grandchildren, Briley and Madison Burwell of Angleton and Brantley Ray Harrell of Brazoria. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Barbara Crone and Son in Law, Danny R. Burwell. In his honor, services will be held Thursday, August 9, 2018 at 10 a.m. at Palms Funeral Home for the family and close friends, followed by a graveside service at Houston National Cemetery at 1:30 p.m. Provide comfort for the family by planting a tree in memory of Claude Ray Cheatham, please visit our Heartfelt Sympathies Store.
