Daryl Wayne Lewis, 73, passed peacefully at Houston Hospice, on April 4th, 2022. He was born January 29, 1949, to Harold and Nelda Lewis, in Angleton, Texas. Daryl graduated from Angleton High School in 1967. He proudly served in the United States Army from 1969 to 1971. Daryl was an Army specialist who saw combat in Vietnam. Upon returning home he attended Sam Houston University. After graduating from college, Daryl worked in various fields, including automotive, oil, and petro chemical industries. He even had a hand in the cattle industry on family land in Borger, Texas. Daryl was a 32nd degree Master Mason and a lifetime member of lodge 829, in Angleton, Texas. Daryl had numerous hobbies and activities throughout his life. He was instrumental in designing and making slalom water skis for Doc Rail Industries and many times you could find him making high speed passes in the old river, in Freeport, behind jet boats that he built. Daryl had a passion for Harley-Davidson motorcycles, many of which he built from the ground up. He loved to bowl and play golf with many childhood friends, always making new friends along the way, in whichever hobby or passion he was involved in. Fast cars were another passion he found. Daryl had many hot rods through the earlier years and later in life found a love for corvettes. He owned several Corvettes throughout his life and was a past member of Mid-Coast Corvette Club. Daryl was involved in the Angleton Alumni Association with his classmates and was looking forward to his 55-year reunion. He was a very loyal and giving man who had a heart as big as Texas. Daryl is preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Nelda Lewis. He is survived by his son Chip Brandon (Chip Lewis), 2 grandchildren, Parker and Rees Lewis, many cousins, and his extended family and a host of friends. Visitation for Daryl will begin at 11:00 am, with the funeral service following at 12:00 pm, on Friday, April 8, 2022, at Palms Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Angleton Cemetery.
