David Karl Beaty

David “Karl” Beaty, 74, of Danbury, Texas hung his earthly fishing pole for the last time on April 22, 2025, as he gained his angel wings and now, he’s fishing in God’ honey hole in the sky.

Karl was born September 1, 1951, in Orange, Texas to R.B. and Gwen Beaty (Landa). Later he was blessed to gain another father in Bill Landa, who, along with Gwen raised him in Angleton, Texas. While he left Angleton briefly in his junior year, he returned his senior year to graduate with his class of 1969.

Karl was quite the entrepreneur early on, owning his own shoe/boot repair store known as Circle Boot in Lake Jackson. He then joined the Dow Chemical Company and retired from there as an electrical designer after over 30 years of service. He immediately returned as a contractor for a few years and then went on to work at S&B Engineering as well as Hargrove Engineering.

If you knew Karl, you learned very quickly that he had an insatiable love for fishing. And he was good at it, very good: he won the Fishing Fiesta Grand Prize three times among many other tournaments. He loved to fish! Karl also always said that being in his boat, on the water was his time with God.

Early in his Dow Career, Karl met his soul mate, Betty Elizabeth McKeever and they just recently celebrated their 50-year anniversary. Karl is survived by his devoted wife and their children, Che’ Davis (Russell), Mistie Wright (Jeff, who has been so much more than a son in-law), Chad Beaty (Elizabeth). Also surviving “PaPa” are his grandchildren: Tara Hall (Russell), Danielle Teague (Josh), Madyson Cross (Nick), Mason Wright, David Karl Beaty II, and our borrowed grandchild, Taylor Ripka. Also, the great grandchildren, Karlynn, Olivia, Easton, Jameson, Grant and Lance.

Also surviving Karl are his siblings, Sue Abshire (Bobby), Reginald “Bubba” Beaty (Lyn), Peggy Willis and Bill Landa Jr. And his sister-in-law, Debbie Winfrey.

Karl was proceeded in death by his parents, his precious mother-in-law, Gladys Lee, his father-in-law, Joe McKeever (Joyce) and his brother-in-law, Jim McKeever. Also, many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews who have many fond memories of fishing with their Uncle Karl.
