David Neil Richardson, of West Columbia, Texas, went to be with the Lord on July 20, 2023.
David was born to Ottalie (Gormey) and Billy Ray Richardson on March 27, 1960, in Freeport, Texas. He grew up in Angleton, Texas, graduated from Angleton High School in 1978 and attended Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas. He worked for Dow Chemical and retired in March 2021 after 31 years.
David, known as DR to his close friends, was a wonderful husband, father, brother, uncle, cousin and friend. He was loved and respected by all who knew him. David was an avid golfer and cherished the time with his friends, winning tournaments and placing a bet or two on the course. When David wasn't golfing, he enjoyed fishing, bird hunting, driving his dogs around in the golf cart and spending time at the family farm. David was also a sports enthusiast - particularly when it came to baseball. You could always count on him to remember a vague stat or call a play before it happened. A loving and kind man, David was quiet but strong. He was supportive and always kept his word. He was great at telling jokes, enjoyed good food and loved to laugh. He worked hard, was a wonderful role model and deeply adored his family.
David is preceded in death by his father, Billy Ray Richardson; his father-in-law, Luke Guidry, Sr.; his paternal grandparents, Betty Eudene (Radford) and James Eldon Richardson; and his maternal grandparents, Elizabeth Victoria (Egger) and Andrew Ross Gormey.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 37 years, Babette Guidry Richardson; his son, Davis Richardson and wife, Tina; his mother, Ottalie Richardson; his brother, Bill Richardson; his sister, Kristi Bentivegna and husband, James; his mother-in-law, Myrna Guidry; his brother-in-law, Luke Guidry and husband, Danny Pearson; and nieces and nephews, Brittney Richardson, Brandon Richardson, Kelly Richardson, Morgan Bentivegna and Aidan Bentivegna; great-nieces, Sarah Richardson and Hailyn Richardson and great-nephew, Callan Richardson.
The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to David's care team, particularly Laura, for their support and compassion during this very difficult time.
Friends are invited to a visitation at 10:30 a.m. followed by a memorial service at 11:30 a.m. on July 28, 2023 at Palms Funeral Home in Angleton, Texas.
