David Sheldon Baldwin Jr.

March 29, 1938 — July 30, 2015

David S. Baldwin, Jr., age 77 went to be with the Lord Thursday, July 30, 2015 at his home. He was born March 29, 1938, in Houston, Texas to David S. and Edna Cook Baldwin. He graduated from Jeff Davis High School in Houston. As a young man, David enjoyed rodeos and dancing. He attended Sam Houston State University before serving his country in the United States Army. Upon his return, Dave began his career as a Draftsman with Shell Oil where he met Lorenda. They married April 14, 1961. Several years later, they settled in Alvin and Dave worked for Monsanto - Chocolate Bayou Chemical Plant until his retirement in 1993.Visitation will be held from 5-8:30pm Sunday at Palms Funeral Home in Angleton with a Rosary to be recited at 7:30pm. The Funeral Mass will be at 10am Monday at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Danbury. Interment will follow in the St. Anthony Catholic Cemetery in Danbury. As their children were growing up, if he wasn't working, his weekends were spent helping their kids with 4-H and FFA projects, gardening, fishing, playing cards and, or dancing. From his meticulous yard work to his "just so" starched Wranglers, he may have been accused of being a perfectionist a time or two. No denying, Ol' Dave Baldwin always had a good joke to share.. or two, or three! In 1996 Dave and Lorenda bought her parents' home place in Danbury. For several years, they traveled 2-3 times a week following their favorite Western Swing bands. David was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Lorenda Lostak Baldwin; sons, Monte Baldwin (Tammi Byrd), Troy Baldwin and girlfriend Amber Korenek, daughters, Rhenda Baldwin and boyfriend Jeff Olsovsky, Gina Maness ( Jimmy), brother, Danny Baldwin( Dani), brothers-in-law, Lonnie Lostak (Eloise), Harold Lostak , ( Risa), and former brother-in-law Wayne Garner; his six grandchildren, Wesley and Sheldon Baldwin, Brooke and Hannah Parker, Madison and Holden Dickerson, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.He is preceded in death by his parents; David S. and Edna Cook Baldwin, parents-in-law; Tommie "T.H." and Gladys Lostak and sister-in-law; Mollie Lostak Garner.
