Dorothy Eloise Fonville

October 15, 1933 — June 5, 2018

Dorothy Eloise Fonville, 84, of Angleton, Texas passed away, Tuesday, June 5, 2018 surrounded by her loving family. Visitation is scheduled for Saturday, June 9, 2018 from 12:30-1:30pm and service beginning 1:30pm at the First United Methodist Church in Angleton, Texas. Eloise devoted her life to caring and nurturing her beloved husband Charles Fonville of 65 years, her 3 children, 6 grandchildren, and great-grandson. She considered loving and caring for them her greatest accomplishment. Her wonderful homemaking skills were known by many and were learned at an early age from her mother, Mary Newell. She faithfully served the Lord, her family and her church. She was an excellent seamstress and loved her time quilting with her church ladies quilting group. Also, she loved her time spent in the United Methodist Women at the First United Methodist Church in Angleton, Texas and served in various leadership rolls for many years. Eloise graduated from Angleton High School in 1951 where she was voted most beautiful by her senior classmates. She enjoyed playing clarinet in AHS band and attending her AHS proms. Her beauty, kind spirit, and generous heart are just a few of the many qualities that are so loved and will be cherished by her family and friends. Eloise was preceded in death by her parents Clinton and Mary Ray Newell, father and mother-in-law Lewis and Nanny Fonville and four Fonville brothers-in-law, five Fonville sisters-in-law, brother-in-law William P. McCormack and great-niece Molly McCormack, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. Eloise is survived in death by her husband of 64 years, Charles Fonville, daughter Charlotte Fonville Whitley-husband Vann Whitley, her sons Dale Fonville and Bryan Fonville-wife Jennifer Wagner Fonville and children Beau, Jett, Ethan, and Harlee, grandsons Drew Whitley, Justin Whitley-wife Amber Weinheimer-Whitley, and great-grandson Case Whitley, sister Helen Newell McCormack, niece Shelley McCormack Menefee-husband Michael Menefee, nephews Pat McCormack Jr.-wife Tammy McCormack, and Jodi McCormack, great-nephews Garrett Menifee and Billy Pat McCormack, III and great-niece Mary Kathryn Menefee. Pallbearers for the service are Drew Whitley, Justin Whitley, Beau Fonville, Jett Fonville, Ethan Fonville, and Garrett Menefee. Honorary pallbearers Harlee Rose and Case Whitley.
