Dorothy Schiller, 86, of Angleton took her last breath on earth and her first breath in Heaven on February 2, 2021. Dorothy was born on March 14, 1934, at Raccoon Bend to Mennie and Edward Grawunder. She grew up on a modest country farm. She attended school in a one-room schoolhouse through the fifth grade. Dorothy then went from the 6th to 8th grade when her school consolidated with Cochran. She graduated at Bellville High School in 1951 and was voted class favorite. While in school, she met the love of her life - Wilber Schiller. They were married at St. John Lutheran Church in Bellville on April 26, 1951. Dorothy came to Brazoria County as a young bride. She and Wilber made their home in Angleton when Wilber was employed at The Dow Chemical Company. They were married 63 years. They had two wonderful sons - Glenn and Boyd. She loved to work in the yard and had many beautiful flowers. Together, Dorothy and Wilber made their home a lovely garden here on earth. Dorothy and Wilber were faithful members of the First Presbyterian Church in Angleton. She taught Sunday School for a number of years. Her love for the Lord was reflected through her kind ways. She cared for so many that needed love and care. Dorothy met many people while working at DeBlanc's Jewelry, an Angleton fixture for many years. Once she retired from the jewelry business, she and Wilber found a love for garage sale shopping, fixing and/or cleaning treasures they found. They'd resell either at their own garage sales or in Bay City on the Square. The joy and memories made were with the people they met. Dorothy and Wilber were also landlords, renting out the small house next door. Dorothy shared plants and Wilber talked gardening. They loved their renters. Many became lifelong friends. She was an excellent homemaker and cook. Every meal was Thanksgiving... and no, we don't have the recipe for her famous strawberry pie! She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilber; her sister, Gladys Fischer and her husband, Lawrence, of Dallas; and her mother and father of Bellville. Dorothy is survived by her son Glenn (Laura) of West Columbia and Boyd of Lake Jackson, grandson Benjamin Schiller and granddaughter Hannah Schiller. She is also survived by her brother James Grawunder (Neely Faye) of Bellville and many relatives and friends.
