Dorthy Marie Hill Duby of Angleton gained her angel wings on Friday, September 11, 2020, at the young age of 79. She was born on March 22, 1941, at home on the family farm in Waterloo, New York. She was the seventh of eight children born to Robert Albert Hill and Hilda Fern Smith Hill. Dottie grew up on the family farm, playing with her siblings, cousins, nieces and nephews. They were poor but rich in family and love. Her childhood dream was to be a wife and mother. At the age of 17, she dropped out of school to marry the love of her life, Bob Duby, in 1958. Five years later, she was overjoyed to have her first baby, son Robert. After spoiling him for five years, along came daughter Renee. In 1972, the family moved to Angleton, Texas, for better opportunities. She was a stay‐at‐home mom for the most part for the next few years until she decided to enter the workforce. She obtained her GED and attended classes at Brazosport College. First State Bank of Clute took a chance on her and she eventually worked her way up to becoming the "face" of First State Bank. She made many friends along the way, served on many boards, and volunteered with many organizations. Some of those organizations included Brazosport Area Chamber of Commerce making history serving as their first female President, Greater Angleton Chamber of Commerce serving as Executive Director, UTMB Auxiliary, BACH, Brazosport Rotary, Junior Achievement, Brazosport Business and Professional Women's Club, Associated Builders and Contractors, United Way of Brazoria County, Angleton Area Emergency Medical Corps, Angleton Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association, Angleton's Citizens on Patrol, and many others. She served as the Precinct 1 Chair for the Brazoria County Republican Party and was also a member of Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church. She received many recognitions, including being named the 2005 Citizen of the Year. Public Relations was her forte, mainly because she loved people, loved her community, and loved helping others. You couldn't open a newspaper without seeing her smiling face! She truly had a servant's heart. Obviously, true retirement was never in the cards for Dottie when she retired from First State Bank. She was soon on to other full and part‐time jobs, the last of which was working for Brazoria County in the DA's Office, where on her breaks she would walk down the hall to granddaughter Cayla's office for a quick visit and then down one floor to daughter Renee's office to chat. More than her community, she loved her family dearly. Everyone was her favorite child, grandchild, niece or nephew. Even her children's friends all called her "Mom", simply because they knew how much she loved each of them. Dottie and Bob loved to travel and went on many cruises with their friends, visiting numerous countries around the world. After Bob's passing, Renee gladly stepped in and cruised yearly with her and the Duby Blues Cruisers. Dottie mostly enjoyed family dinners and get‐togethers, a good glass of wine, and looked forward to her Sunday lunch with son Robert at Olive Garden. She also loved scrapbooking and cardmaking with her friends, making well over 50 scrapbooks documenting her many travels but, more importantly, making special memory books for her grandchildren and greatgrandchildren. Everyone received special handmade cards for their birthday and holidays. Her proudest moments were the births of her grandchildren, Chris and Cayla, and then her great‐grandchildren, Kyleigh (11) and Barrett (7 months), with the added bonus of Aubree (9), who she spent so much time with as her after‐school buddy. Aubree loved the scrapbook room and learned so much from her Grandma Duby! Dottie has been reunited in Heaven with her parents, Robert and Hilda Hill; her seven siblings, Fern Skinner, Robert Hill, Elizabeth West, Hazel Loree, Barbara Jones, Catherine Jolly, and Albert Hill; her beloved husband of 53 years, Robert Eugene Duby Sr.; and her great‐grandson Kasen Taylor Duby, who she never had the opportunity to spoil until now. Dottie leaves behind many friends and family to cherish her memories, including her favorite son Robert Eugene Duby Jr.; her favorite daughter Renee Elizabeth Rape and favorite son‐in‐law Judge Robin Rape; her favorite grandson Christopher Brett Duby and favorite granddaughter‐inlaw Brittnee Duby; her favorite granddaughter Cayla Marie Meyers and favorite grandson‐in‐law David Meyers; her two favorite great‐granddaughters, Kyleigh Ann Duby and Aubree Lynn Meyers, and her favorite great‐grandson Barrett Dalton Meyers; as well as her favorite sister‐inlaw Elizabeth "Bootsie" Kucmerowski and the many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly. Dottie loved her furbabies who were her constant companions, and they will miss her as well - dog "Duby" and cats "Mia", "Boo", and "Boo Baby".
