Doyle Fredrick Nesmith

Doyle Nesmith was born December 6, 1928, in Grimes County, Bedias, Texas to Radford and Lucy Mae Nesmith and died January 1, 2014 after a long battle with pneumonia. Doyle is preceded in death by both his parents; four brothers, Ervin Nesmith, James Nesmith, Elmer Nesmith and Howard Nesmith; three sisters, Vernice Ellisor, Jewell Millstid and Louise James. Doyle is survived by his wife, Beatrice Nesmith of 65 years; three daughters, Wanda Ballard & husband, David of Tomball, Barbara Davis & husband, Ernie of Lake Jackson, and Debbie Nesmith of Freeport; five grandchildren, Julie Marcantel & husband, Mike of Tomball, John Jacobs of Lake Jackson, John-Paul Brent Ballard & wife, Rebecca of Greenville, James Davis of Lake Jackson & Megan Davis of New York; five great grandchildren, Emma & Patrick Jacobs of Lake Jackson, Amanda Marcantel of Tomball, Audrey & Darby Ballard of Greenville. He is also survived by six brothers, Mitchell Nesmith, Billy Nesmith, Bobby Nesmith, Wilbur "Peck" Nesmith, John Vernon Nesmith, and Charlie Nesmith; three sisters, Kitty Raymond, Jessee Douthitt and Janie Sue Stratton. Doyle moved from Grimes County as a farmer in 1955 to Velasco to work as a welder and later to live in Freeport to operate a Phillips 66 service station on 2nd Street for eighteen years. Later he started a business sandblasting and painting and barge cleaning with Dow Chemical from which he retired. Doyle and his wife Beatrice lived in the same house for 39 years in Freeport. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 7, 2014 at Palms Funeral Home with a funeral service to follow visitation at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in the Angleton Cemetery.
