Funeral services for Edgar Charles Hammond, Jr., 94, of Angleton will be held Wednesday, June 16, 2021 at 11:00AM at Palms Funeral home in Angleton. "Charlie" was born January 30, 1927 in Midfield Texas and passed away June 11, 2021 in Lake Jackson. He is preceded in death by his parents, Edgar Charles Hammond, Sr. and Katie Casper Hammond; wife, Alice Oree "Tommie" Hammond; wife, Dorothy Obanion Hammond; son, Randy Carl Hammond and sisters Lillian Brannan and Audrey Faye Lucky. Remaining to cherish his memory are son, Rick Hammond and his wife Patti; grandchildren Kaylon (husband Mike), Alex (wife Catherine) and Hillary; and great grandchildren Hattie, Charlie and Eliot. He is also survived by step-daughter, Carolyn Box and family; siblings, Nina McKay, Marvin Hammond, Percy Hammond, Virginia Camp, Mary Anne Hornbustle, Wanda Jo Hazlewood, and Jackie Belle, along with numerous nieces and nephews. Charlie was a WWII veteran serving in both the Merchant Marines and U.S. Marine Corps. He worked for Dow Chemical for 37 years, coached Little League baseball, and also was an active hunter and fisherman. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Angleton. A full life, well lived and now residing in the very presence of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Service Details.
