Edward Gene Boehm Edward "Gene" Boehm, 85, of Angleton passed away on Tuesday, May 21, 2013 at home in the company of his loving family. He was born on November 5, 1927 in Moulton, Texas to Ed and Alma (Albrecht) Boehm and baptized at Zion Lutheran Church in Moulton, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Lawrence Boehm. Gene is survived by his wife of 62 years, Florence Jane (Speckels) Boehm of Angleton, son Rodney Boehm and wife Ann of College Station, daughter Bridget Besser and husband Mike of Pearland, and daughter Rhonda Dees of Moulton. He is also survived by sisters Ethel Williamson of Columbus and Cordelia "Corky" Newton and husband Paul of Moulton. In addition he is survived by 10 grandchildren and their spouses; Jim Boehm & wife Julia Shields of Baltimore, MD, John Boehm & wife Myria of Dallas, Matthew Boehm & wife Katie of Seattle, WA, Ashley Walton & husband Matt of Pearland, Lauren Roper & husband Matthew of Nassau Bay, Paul Boehm & wife Diane of Houston, Jordan Dees & wife Shirley of Ankeny, IA, Emily Boehm and fiance Zac Tuggle of San Diego, CA. Christopher "Topher" Boehm & fiance Bernadette McNamara of Sydney, Australia, and Taylor Dees of Moulton. Gene graduated from Moulton High School in 1945. He enrolled at Texas A&M College, Class of ‘49 at College Station and after serving 2 years in the United States Army Infantry, Gene graduated from A & M in February 1951 with a BS Degree in Agriculture Education. He married Jane Speckels of Schulenburg in August 1949 and he and Jane moved to Angleton in 1951 where he accepted the position of Assistant County Agriculture Agent in charge of the Brazoria County 4-H club program. In 1957, Gene & Clyde Jacob started the Angleton Mill & Feed Company, a feed, ranch and farm supply business and remained as owner for 38 years. He also worked for the Brazoria County Appraisal District, Tractor Supply and as a part-time bailiff for Brazoria County Court #3. Gene served on the AISD Board of Trustees for 14 years, was a charter member of St John Lutheran Church in Angleton, and worked with Boy Scout Troop 13. Gene has always had an intense respect and love for the land as evidenced with time spent on his lawn tractor, in a pickup truck, or especially on a John Deere pulling a shredder. The heat of the day never bothered him when there was work to be done. His hobby from sun up to sun down and his joy was taking care of Mother Nature's yard. Gene loved all outdoor activities, especially fishing and dove hunting, as well as a late night bowl of Blue Bell Ice Cream. Most of all he loved the company and time spent with his family. His role as patriarch set an example of love, faith and grace to all that knew him. Gene lived his life helping others. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, May 24, 2013 at St. John Lutheran Church, 2227 N. Downing Rd, Angleton, Tx. Visitation will be Thursday evening from 6-8 PM at Palms Funeral Home, Angleton, Tx. Graveside services and burial will be at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, May 24 at the Moulton Public Cemetery, CR 1680 Moulton, TX Gene's grandsons Jim, John, Matthew, Paul, Christopher, Jordon, and grandsons-in-law Matt Walton and Matthew Roper will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Floyd Christian, Leroy Bieri, Stanley Singer, Don Fuchs, James Clem, Emil Ritz, Taylor "Fresh Meat" Hall, Jr, Ron Richards, Jim Boyd, William Fenney, Robert "Bob" Kieffer, Larry Phillips, Sr, Phillip Harrison, Judge J.R. Gayle & Garnet Latour. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the stained glass fund of St John Lutheran Church.
