Edward John Rivera Edward John Rivera (Eddie), 53 of Freeport, passed away on Tuesday, October 8, 2013. He was born in Galveston, Texas on November 9, 1959 to Humberto Rivera Sr. and Mary Lou Rivera. Edward was a resident of Freeport for many years where he attended and graduated from Brazosport High School in 1979. After graduation he went to work for DOW chemical for many years until he retired in 2005. After retiring from DOW he went on to do something he loved, in which he became a cook for nursing homes in Clute. Eddie loved being with his family and taking care of all of them. He was the heart that kept the family together and would open his heart and door to anyone who needed it, including his friends who he loved dearly and would do anything for. He is preceded in death by his parents Humberto Rivera Sr. & Mary Lou Rivera, brothers; Humberto Rivera Jr., Robert Lee Rivera, sisters; Mary Francis Reyna & husband Reynaldo Reyna, Frances Villarreal , Carmen Garza and Louisa R. Olivarez. He is survived by three children Robert Lee Rivera Jr. & wife Judy Hensley & their four children, Sandy Lynn Rivera & her six children, & Mary Francis Rivera & husband Juan Villarreal and their four children. Brothers; Robert Lee Rivera Sr. & wife Yolanda, Ernest Rivera & wife Carolyn, Tommy Rivera & wife Rosenda, Jesse Rivera & wife Reba, Albert Rivera & wife Soyla, Johnny Rivera & wife Terri, sister Eloisa R. Garza & husband Manuel as well as Numerous Uncles, Aunts, Nieces, Nephews & cousins who loved him dearly. Eddie became a resident of Angleton about a year ago, he was happiest cooking, and spending time with his family, and being with his three Chihuahuas. He was friendly with a big smile, laugh & a heart to match. All who knew him loved him, he will be greatly missed. E-veryone you knew saw your heart shine through. D-efinitely the greatest Friend, DAD, Uncle this is true. W-ords can't express the pain we feel. A-s time passes by can we ever heal? R-emembering your strength is how we must deal. D-riving us forward your memory will stay, keeping us strong through the forthcoming days. Visitation will be Monday October 14, 2013 from 2-8:00pm at Palms Funeral Home, a Rosary will be held between 6-7:00pm also at Palms Funeral Home.
