Edwin Joseph 'Ej' Vrazel

Funeral Mass and Christian Burial for retired businessman and restauranteur, Edwin Joseph "EJ" Vrazel has been set for 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 1, 2018 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Danbury, TX . Burial will follow in St. Anthony's Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday evening from 5-7 with Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. at St. Anthony's. Edwin fought the good battle, and now rests peacefully in the arms of his Lord. Edwin leaves a legacy of friendship, generosity and an unwavering work ethic. Although he was known later in life as a restaurant owner, where he was famous for his fried shrimp, he was much more than that. Edwin was born at the farm home, in Danbury, Texas, on September 9, 1940. The fourth of eleven children, he is preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn Barnes Vrazel; parents, Donat P. and Marie Pavlicek Vrazel; his brother, Joe Vrazel; and baby sister, Bernadette Vrazel. Edwin graduated from Danbury High School, class of 1959, where he was very active in the FFA. He was also a tuba player in the high school marching band, back when Danbury, Pearland, Katy and Friendswood were all in the same district! He also attended Alvin Junior College in the early 1960s, while employed at Dow Chemical, as an operator. Edwin was a member of SPJST, KJT, St. Anthony Parish Council, Brazoria County Cattleman's Association, Texas Farm Bureau, Danbury ISD School Board (1975-1981) and Angleton Chamber of Commerce. Edwin is survived by his five children, Carolyn Vrazel Harmon of Houston, John Vrazel (fiance Sandy Williams), Philip Vrazel (Rosario), Anthony Vrazel (Isabella) all of Danbury, Dr. Laura Koehler (Justin) of League City and one step-son, Brian Bailey. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Austin Harmon, Colby Vrazel, Maddison and Maverick Vrazel, Brian "BJ", Leslie, Brittany and Brinley Vrazel, Maddox and Briles Koehler, one great-grandson, Eli J. Vrazel "EJ" as well as the mother of his children, Mildred Vrazel, of Danbury. He leaves behind eight siblings, including sisters: Sister Anna Marie Vrazel of San Antonio, Martha Vrazel Schaatt, and Theresa Vrazel Jones of Danbury, Margaret Vrazel Bargas (Mike), of Angleton, and Lillie Vrazel Svec, (John) of Sealy. Brothers; Florin Vrazel (Maureen), Paul Vrazel (Marianne) and Louis Vrazel (Pat) all of Danbury. Also 7- step-grandchildren and 4-great-great step grandchildren. There are also numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces & nephews, cousins, associates & friends who will fondly remember him.
