Eldon Louis "Butch" Barnes, Jr. of Angleton, Texas, passed away on Tuesday, June 8, 2021 at the age of 76. He is preceded in death by his parents, Eddie Lou Vernon and Eldon Barnes, Sr. Left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Kurstie Davis (George) and Andrea Kerch (Robert); siblings, Louanne Steph (Bobby) and Bob Barnes (Dana); grandchildren, Kenzie Davis, Mason Davis (Lana), McCaulley Davis, Ryan Kerch, and Tyler Kerch; great granddaughter, Lila; mother of his children, Izzy Barnes; nephews, Rodney Steph (Tamara), Clayton Barnes (Mika), and Jason Barnes (Phyliss); a host of great nieces, nephews, family, and close friends from AA. Butch was born in Angleton, Texas, on June 18, 1944. A storyteller by nature, he could talk about anything and had a story for every occasion. He enjoyed fishing, crabbing, and was a sports fanatic. Known to his children and grandchildren as "Pop", he never passed up the chance to go to his grandchildren's games and harass umpires. Butch was keen on enjoying his morning coffee, while engaging in conversation with his longtime friends. He found great support and friendship through his involvement with AA and his dedication to sobriety. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. A visitation and funeral service will take place at Palms Funeral Home, on Monday, June 14, 2021. The visitation will begin at 9:00 am and continue until the service begins at 11:00 am.
