Elena Mata Flores

Elena Mata Flores went home to the Lord peacefully Tuesday morning, June 25, 2013 at her residence. She was 84. Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, June 29, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Angleton, Tx. Graveside services will follow at the Angleton Cemetery. There will be a viewing from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Palms Funeral Home prior to the services. Visitation will be held on Friday, June 28, 2013 from 5-9 p.m. at Palms Funeral Home, with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. Elena was born in Mercedes, Texas to Victoriano and Concepcion Cosme Mata on December 31, 1928. She was an Angleton resident for over 50 years and a member of Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church. She was a Charter Member of the Guadalupana Society and a long time member of St Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. There, she gave her heart to the youth by sharing her passion for dancing by teaching them the art of Folklorico Dancing. She was a loving mother & grandmother, and dedicated servant to our Lord. She dedicated many years by volunteering at the Angleton Food Pantry/Resale Shop and visiting the ill at Angleton-Danbury General Hospital. She was preceded in death by her husband Miguel Flores. Survivors are her children: Hector Lee Mata, Ida Yvette Flores & Iris Bernadette "Bonnie" Flores-Huerta; Grandchildren: Elizabeth RaeAnne Garcia & Briana Danielle Garcia; Great-Grandchildren: Aubrey Vernette Martinez, Micaela Frances Martinez & Damian Amir Martinez. Pallbearers are Dorian Martinez, Jesse Martinez, III, Marco Antonio Lopez, Joe Luis Diaz and Michael Sheldon. A special thanks goes out to Ms. Sabina of Vemax Healthcare Services. She is proof that God sends Angels in human form, and to Tracy Cofield of Advantage Health & Hospice Care Systems, Inc., both of Houston. They made our Mother's final days comfortable. The Family would like to thank Steve Lopez and Lorena Lopez-Diaz for refusing to leave us in her final hours and have continued to stay with us to help us handle all of the arrangements.
