Emil Edmond Prihoda, Jr., age 77, passed away on June 29, 2023, after a battle with cancer. He is survived by his daughter and her husband Amber and Shannon Skorupinski; brother Joe and wife Debbie Prihoda, sister Dorothy Jones; granddaughter Macy Shipman; grandson Cory Skorupinski and wife Missy, granddaughter Courtney Knoerr and husband Marcus, and grandson Cody Skorupinski. Great-grandchildren: Noah and Ella Knoerr and Cooper and Savannah Skorupinski. He is preceded in death by his wife Judy of 47 years, and his parents. Born on September 29, 1945, to Emil Edmond Prihoda, Sr., and Mary Vrazel Prihoda. Emil grew up in Danbury, Texas, and graduated from Danbury High School. After graduation, he attended college at Mary Hardin-Baylor and was drafted into the Army. He served our nation as an E5 Sergeant in Vietnam. After his tour of duty, he returned home and married Judy, the love of his life. He worked for The Dow Chemical Company for his entire career and held many different supervisory roles. He was admired as a boss and a colleague, and known to be fair and hard-working. He had a natural mechanical talent and loved all things mechanical, especially old tractors and Corvettes. He was well known for telling good stories on the bayou with good times and good friends. He loved being on the water and treasured his time with friends and family. Emil was a devout Catholic and loved his Lord and Savior. Recently, he said: "I look back and I think of the friends I've made, the good times I've had, and so many good memories. I told God that I'm ready whenever he wants to take me. I'm just going to leave this in God's hands." Judy and Emil lived in Lake Jackson from 1970-2005 and retired on Bastrop Bayou. During their time in Lake Jackson, they enjoyed church, family, classic cars and car shows, and tractor shows. Emil's faith in God was very important to him and in retirement he and Judy were involved in many activities at St. Anthony's in Danbury. He was a 4th degree Knight in the Danbury Council, and active in the Saint Mary Star of the Sea Assembly. All services will be held at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Danbury, Texas. Visitation is Thursday July 6 from 6:00pm-7:00pm with the Rosary at 7:00pm. A Funeral Mass will be Friday, July 7 at 10:00am, followed by burial at St. Anthony's Catholic Cemetery, and lunch at St. Anthony's Center.
