Estella "Stella" Lostracco

August 10, 1922 — May 16, 2021

Estella "Stella" Martin Lostracco, of Angleton, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 16, 2021 at the age of 98. She is survived by her son Joe and wife Ruth Ann, her daughter Mary Lynn and husband Randy Hart, and her son Dale and wife Sherree; her grandchildren: Anthony Lostracco and wife Ambyr, Margaret Ann McEver and husband Chad, Nathan Westbrook, and Natalie McManus and husband Dan; and her great grandchildren: Parry Ann and Hutton Lostracco, Brice and Wiley McEver, and Creighton Westbrook; her sisters-in-law Mary Ann Hutson and Jo Lostracco, and numerous nieces and nephews. Also, in addition to their children, Stella and A.C. were proud parents of two AFS students over the years: their beloved Italian daughter Anna "Niny" Tossi and Canadian son Carl Fuesler. Born to Joe and Mary Martin on August 10, 1922, Stella grew up in Iowa Colony and was a life-long resident of Brazoria County. After graduating from Alvin High School, she married A.C. Lostracco on April 20, 1941, forming a wonderful union that lasted until his death in 1999. Following A.C.'s return from WW II, they lived briefly in Bonney before moving to Angleton. Stella was a proud homemaker who devoted herself to and took great joy from her roles as wife, mother, and "MawMaw" to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Family and long-time friends will forever recall her wonderful cakes, homemade mints, and welcoming embrace. Her love of family was both her greatest treasure and her greatest gift. Quick with a smile and laugh, she loved to tease-and she gave as good as she got. Having a sociable and outgoing spirit, she was always eager for a party; and in her early years at Country Village Care, she could often be found playing late-night dominoes with other residents or staff. For over thirty years, beginning when Mary Lynn and Dale were students at Angleton High School, Stella was an enthusiastic supporter of the Wildcat Band. Working in the concession stand on Friday nights, chaperoning on band trips around the country, and enjoying the friendship of her fellow Purple Pride Boosters brought her immense enjoyment and pride. And on Saturday mornings after home games during football season, you were certain to find her-often with A.C.'s help-at the kitchen table counting money from the previous night's concession sales. Stella especially treasured two commemorations of her service on behalf of the Purple Pride: a plaque received in recognition of her assistance with the AHS Band's 1988 appearance at the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in NYC and a rocking chair inscribed with "30+ Years of Service, Angleton Band Boosters." In addition to her parents, Stella was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, A.C. Lostracco, her sister Lena Mary Schaatt, and her brother Melvin C. Martin. The family gives special thanks to all her devoted neighbors and friends, especially Jimmy and Waynette Dubose, and to the nurses and staff during the past five years at Country Village Care in Angleton. We are forever grateful. Visitation will be on Saturday, May 22 from 9-11 AM at Palms Funeral Home, 2300 East Highway 35 in Angleton. We appreciate the observance of masking precautions, even if fully vaccinated. A private internment ceremony will be held in the Resurrection Garden of South Park Cemetery in Pearland. In lieu of flowers, and for those desiring, the family suggests contributions in Stella's memory to the Angleton School History Center, 1800 N. Downing, Angleton, TX 77515, or to a charity of your choice. We are never finished with grief. It is part of the fabric of living. It is always waiting to happen. Love makes memories and life precious; the grief that comes to us is proportionate to that love and is inescapable. -V.S. Naipaul Service Details.
