Franklin Pierce Waldrep (Pierce), of Angleton, Texas, passed away on April 12, 2025, at the age of 71. He entered this world on July 3, 1953, in Fairbanks, Alaska, born to Pierce and Nellie Sue (Mabry) Waldrep.
While attending Auburn University, Pierce met his sweetheart, Peggy, beginning a love story that would span nearly five decades. They married in 1978 and built a life full of faith, devotion, and family.
Pierce was a loving husband, a devoted father to Lauren Chance (and husband Monte Chance) and Ashley Waldrep, and a proud grandfather—affectionately known as “Big Guy”—to Makayla Chance and Emily Chance. His family was his greatest joy, and he poured his heart into every moment shared with them.
He also shared a lifelong friendship with his best friend, Arthur Colwell (and wife Nita Colwell), whom he met in 1971 at the airport in Huntsville, Alabama. From that day forward, their bond was unwavering—a testament to the power of true friendship. They remained close through the years, supporting each other through life’s ups and downs and creating countless memories along the way.
Pierce held a special place in his heart for Paul Colwell (and wife Lindsay), whom he loved like his own son.
He is also survived by numerous cousins and friends who reside in both Texas and Alabama—family connections he always cherished and valued throughout his life.
A man of faith and deep conviction, Pierce dedicated over 20 years of service to Gideons International, an organization committed to sharing the Word of God by distributing Bibles around the world. His commitment to this ministry was a true reflection of his heart for helping others and spreading hope through faith.
Though he is no longer with us in body, his spirit endures—in the scriptures he helped share, in the lives he touched, and in the hearts of all who loved him.
